@ Pel - glad to hear from you!! it may sound elegant, but in reality Vienna is better described by the superlatives: "smashed and dreary"; "sweet dear old bitch". You'd be surprised how run-down the place can be, not entirely the effervescent diamond of elegance marketed to tourists, but rather a tired symbol of the Old World's past glamour and greatness...
@ DD - I assure you, shit is everywhere. I saw Stade years ago. I'm glad you got to see her in this farewell tour. She is beautiful in every sense of the word.

Saw Von Stada tonight. She was beautiful, the symphony under their new conductor Edwin is really much much better.
